Defending Democracy and Civil Rights (Indivisible)
Indivisible is mobilizing against what it describes as a “Trump-Musk coup,” warning of coordinated efforts by Donald Trump and Elon Musk to undermine democratic institutions and processes.
The group is organizing mass protests and actions to oppose executive overreach, including concerns about Trump potentially invoking the Insurrection Act and using emergency powers to suppress dissent.
Opposition to Trump Administration Policies: (50501)
The central focus of 50501 is resistance to what organizers describe as “anti-democratic and illegal actions” by the Trump administration, including executive overreach and the undermining of democratic institutions and the rule of law.
The Brennan Center is actively challenging efforts that restrict access to voting, including strict voter ID laws, proof-of-citizenship requirements, and other barriers that disproportionately impact marginalized communities
In 2025, the Center filed a lawsuit against President Trump’s executive order requiring documentary proof of citizenship for federal voter registration, arguing it would disenfranchise millions of eligible voters
Strengthening Democracy and Voting Rights (SPLC)
The SPLC is pushing back against new laws and policies that restrict voting rights, particularly those that disproportionately impact Black and Brown communities. They are advocating for expanded access to voting, fighting against voter ID laws, and working to modernize election infrastructure. The organization is also urging Congress to reject legislation like the SAVE Act, which would impose stricter proof-of-citizenship requirements and potentially disenfranchise millions of voters
The Center also represents groups like the League of Women Voters and the NAACP in litigation to block restrictive election rules and has recently celebrated a court victory that blocked a key part of the president’s attempt to rewrite election rules
